About WorkX

Built by a coordinator, for coordinators.

WorkX started as a simple idea — there has to be a better way to manage Gateway. It's grown into a platform used by schools across New Zealand, and we're just getting started.

About us

“Well, there is no 'us'………..yet… just me!”

Dan Russell
Founder & Creator, WorkX

Hi there! I'm Dan, founder and creator of WorkX — a modern, intuitive platform to manage your Gateway work experience programme. Whether you have 6 students, or 60, this platform will save you energy, effort and a lot of stress, leaving you time for the stuff that really matters — engaging with your students, and supporting them to learn, grow, make decisions and get the most out of their work experience.

Who am I?

In my previous life as HoD Careers, Careers Advisor and Gateway Coordinator at a low-decile urban secondary school in the South Island, New Zealand, I know the pain points:

  • Getting documents created and signed by students, parents and employers
  • Managing Health and Safety requirements with a lack of good communication tools
  • Reporting difficulties and the stringent requirements of the TEC reporting model
  • Staying across the students as they progress through milestones at varying stages
  • Managing finances
  • Communicating and tracking conversations with parents, students, employers
  • Flicking between clunky platforms
  • and all those other (not so) minor annoyances!!

WorkX is made for Gateway Coordinators, by an ex-Gateway Coordinator!

Our beliefs

What we believe

🎯

Gateway changes lives — it just needs better infrastructure.

🤝

Coordinators deserve tools built for their actual job, not generic software forced to fit.

📈

Every school should be able to scale their programme without burning out their coordinator.

🇳🇿

This is a NZ problem and it deserves a NZ solution — built by people who understand the context.
